Collection: 100% wool

These yarns are made from 100% wool.  Sheep need to be sheared or they would literally collapse under the weight of their coat!  Not all wool is created equally.  Merino wool is the original luxury fiber, and these sheep are raised primarily for their coats.  Other itchy wools that bring back memories of itchy school uniforms are made from sheep who are raised for milk or meat, and the wool is a by-product.  Using wool is a natural thing, a renewable thing, and does wonders for temperature control and moisture control.  

Just remember, the softer the wool, the more it will pill, the harder the wool, the better for cutting steeks.  It is the price we pay for not wanting to wear a tee-shirt under our sweaters.  If there is a heavenly soft wool, keep in mind that it may be better suited for items that will not get much wear, such as a hat, cowl, or newborn sweater.  

Go ahead and give our wool a try!  We don't sell much "itchy" wool, because it isn't popular!  A true wool allergy is rare, and many people mistake irritated skin for an allergy.  We also sell wool washes that will really ease the itch factor, or revive an old tired sweater that went to the dry cleaners too many times!  

Did I mention that Wool-light is actually awful for your woolens?  It contains harsh chemicals that strip away the natural oils of natural fibers.  Try one of our rinse free wool washes!  You will save on dry cleaning bills too!  We use it on all our woolens and hand-knits.
