We have had this yarn in our store since our first day of business in late 2007. Now that we have many colors in stock, customers are again flocking to this yarn for all their fun color knitting, and work horse sweater needs! Felted Tweed is a blend of merino wool, alpaca and viscose and knits to a DK weight.. most of the time. To us, this yarn can feel like a sport weight at times, but it depends what we are knitting. For sweaters we tend to use a 5 or 6 needle, and for color work projects we tend toward a 3 or 4 needle.
The yarn has a beautiful tweed effect perfect for fairisles, striping and other color work and the rustic color palette makes this yarn a firm favorite with Rowan designers. This yarn has been lightly felted, so take extra care not to agitate your finished project and hand wash in cool water!
Each skein has 191 yards per 50g ball and is made of 50% wool, 25% alpaca, and 25% viscose.
Hand wash in cool water.
We love this yarn for the Churchmouse Poncho, and we are currently obsessed with the Marie Wallin Fair Isle Club blanket!
